Ricardo Franco is a first-year law student at Seattle University School of Law. He comes to us with a background in public policy, having worked for the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the United States House of Representatives, and the Washington State Senate. Ricardo is a United States Army veteran and University of Washington alumni, where he graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in American Ethnic Studies and Political Science.
Ricardo's early experience as a geoduck farm laborer has given him a deep appreciation for the significance of rural farming businesses, reinforcing his dedication to his rural Washington roots.
During his time as a Trade Policy Intern at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, he assisted in researching environmental policy and translating Spanish legal text to English. While he was working as a Congressional Fellow for the United States House of Representatives he assisted Congressional staff on research for legislative issues spanning multiple policy areas. As a Legislative Intern for the Washington State Senate, he studied water law as it pertains to land use development. Throughout these positions, Ricardo honed his skills in research, legislative analysis, and policy development across a broad range of critical areas.
Ricardo is passionate about economic development and intends to develop expertise in trade, international agriculture, and natural resource policy. We are excited to have Ricardo on board as our student law clerk and look forward to this summer as he assists both our clients and our team.
